The non-profit organization #wirfürschule launched the campaign “Let's bring the future to school” in mid-April 2021. With this, it wants to question the status quo of the German education system and at the same time call for a nationwide hackathon. The #wirfürschule hackathon is scheduled to take place from June 14 to 18. Together, several thousand participants are to collect good practices from schools, provide feedback on the target image of the school of tomorrow, and develop concrete implementation measures. The Hackathon is under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and Research, the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany, and the Minister of State for Digitization, Dorothee Bär. The Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs will subsequently review the results of the hackathon for feasibility.

The campaign was implemented by The Goodwins. Together with #wirfürschule, the Berlin agency developed, among others, the motifs “Is there actually still room for big ideas in the curriculum?”, “When can classrooms really fly?” or “Berlin’s new start-up: school.” In addition to partners Accenture, die Bayerische, Capgemini, Deutsche Bahn, the Dieter Schwarz Foundation, the Procter & Gamble Company, SAP, Slack, the Vodafone Foundation and Wacom, #wirfürschule was also able to win over the multi-channel media company STRÖER. Thanks to this collaboration, the social media measures launched in April were supplemented by a DOOH flight at the beginning of June. Nationwide, additional programmatic advertising is thus used on more than 2,000 screens in various formats such as Cityscreen, Roadside Screen, Edgar Art Screen, Infoscreen, Mall Video or Station Video.
“Our motto this year combines various aspects. Particularly important to us is the team idea, the “we” feeling. We want to invite everyone:n to look forward with us courageously and positively and to shape the future,” explains Verena Pausder, co-initiator of #wirfürschule.
Tim Stübane, Partner Creation at The Goodwins, explains, “The pandemic has made us all realize how important school is. And at the same time, how poorly positioned we are in this country. That's why we're doing our part within this challenging project with this campaign.”
Alexander Stotz, CEO of Ströer Media Deutschland GmbH, adds: “#wirfürschule creates an important network to jointly shape the school of tomorrow with great innovative power. We are also aware of our responsibility and support the initiative by broadcasting the campaign on our nationwide public video network. We reach many people in public spaces within a very short time with our out-of-home media. Through the campaign spots on our screens, we activate people to participate in the hackathon and thus promote social engagement.”
