Ebay Kleinanzeigen has long been a permanent guest on YouTube’s advertising charts with its branded content formats. With its “Bye-Buy” campaign launched in the summer (creation: The Goodwins, Berlin), the platform has pulled off a real coup: After a clip from the campaign had already topped the YouTube rankings in August, the music video “Schutzgeld” (“Protection Money”) featuring singer Leila Akinyi landed right at the top in October. In second place is the first episode of the controversial web series "Ehrenpflegas" by the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs.
In the top-ranked video in October, Ebay Kleinanzeigen declares war on nasty stumbling blocks in its usual musical and entertaining way - and calls for old toys to be sorted out. The protagonist Boris in the YouTube series of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) has also sorted out: After all, he has already completed many training courses and is now confident that he has finally found his vocation. Although - or perhaps because - the series received a veritable shitstorm due to its idiosyncratic, emphatically cool presentation style, it landed in second place in last month's YouTube advertising charts.
The ranking in October is completed by the spot “Schwabenfreude” from the new Bett1.de campaign by Antoni Heaven, in which the mattress manufacturer takes aim at the muesli company Seitenbacher and its advertising, a quote comparison of Borat and Donald Trump from Amazon Prime Video to promote the film “Borat 2” and a test drive by presenter Matthias Malmedie in the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
In the monthly review, YouTube presents the top advertising clips from Germany. An algorithm that takes into account paid and organic views as well as audience engagement determines the ranking.
